If you send another member of Lavender Eyes a private message, how do you check to see if they've sent you one in return?

I am from Russia, and for some of the books we have different covers. Some of them are really good(as I think). I can't find them anywhere in the internet and there aren't shown on this site, so it makes me think that only in Russia we have such covers(sorry if I am mistaken). If somebody is interested, I can scan those covers and send to anyone who can put them in the images area. I really want to share those pictures and know other people's oppinion about them. Is anybody interested? Can anyone help me?

I've noticed that there is a gallery for member photos. How do you add your own album?
I tried to enter an encyclopedia entry, filling in the name, definition and pronounciation, so I filled in the required fields. However, it said that it didn't work, saying the common problems were a too large picture and not fuffilling in the required fields. I had no picture, and my entry was NOT too large. What do I need to do? P.S. Next to user, it said "Login." I had already logged in.
What would I do to change a file type? I made my avatar on a website, but had to edit it with paint. Now it's a bitmap image and I need to know how to change the image type to either jpg or gif. Thanks!!!

grumpie1 In 2003, I followed my kids to Lavender Eyes, in spite of having never read the books. (Oh, the perils of being a responsible parent and monitoring your children's internet use.) Shortly after joining, I started reading the books and it didn't take long to fall in love with both world of Faerûn and the LE community. Since 2004, I've been a site sub-admin and forum moderator. Finally in November of 2009, I took over the reins as Administrator from the site's founder, Rivka.

If you send another member of Lavender Eyes a private message, how do you check to see if they've sent you one in return?

On the left hand side of the screen there should be boxes entitled "main menu" and "who's online." When somebody has sent you a private message in should say, in the "who's online" box, "You have X private messages."

How do we PM other users? I've looked, and people have PM'd me, but I can't seem to figure out how to do it. I am really sorry if this is a dumb question.

If you click on the members link down in the Who's Online block on the left, you can do a search on someone's name. Once you've found them, there will be a link in their profile to send them a PM.

Click here, and then click on the link that says “Retrieve lost password”.

Avatars are used in the forums. They are pictures that appear next to a person’s post.

You can't actually change a user-name. To get a new name, simply re-register with the site, choosing a different name.

To select an uploaded avatar: click on "my account"; then click on "change your info"; then click on the drop-down "Your Avatar" menu, and select your uploaded avatar; then click on "save changes" at the bottom of that page.

Thank you for your enquiry. Post Counts and Member Status were recently removed from beneath a member’s avatar to help reduce spam on the LE fora. A member’s Post Count can be found by clicking on Member List on the top of the page. Hope that helps.

A flame is a remark that is meant to deliberately insult so as to hurt feelings or incite an argument. For example, in the art galleries you might see "the legs are too skinny and you need to work on your musculature a bit more". That is a critique or constructive criticism. "You suck" or "Put down your pencil and BURN IT!!!" are both examples of flames.

For An RPG are we allowed to use flying ships?

No. In the RPG forum it is specified what technology is permitted and what is not. I'll repeat it here: What is and isn't allowed 1.Mecha creations are not allowed unless they are golems created by a wizard. 2. All transportation must not hold any modern traits. Flying ships, although related to the DnD universe, are an attempt by WOTC to add a modern edge to their games. Small mechanical machines, like crawlers and the like are allowed but they must be simple in creation (no bomb throwers etc). Gnomes tinker with metal and making it move, but none can make a robot or a flying ship. Think simple mechanics. Horses, large lizards and other large beasts, wooden ships, carriages etc were the main transportation in Drizzt's world. 3. Travel between worlds in Drizzt's books is done through the use of portals. Travel commences between the hells, abyss, and the regular plane. Otherplanar travel is allowed in the forum. Space travel on the other hand was not recognized so it is not allowed.

Absolutely we are interested! If you look here, we have all the covers that we have collected so far. We have, of course, the American covers but also a lot of German ones and a few Russian ones. Any new additions are always welcome. (Try to credit the artist if at all possible, please.) Once you've scanned them, just upload them into the Submissions Gallery of the Images Gallery. [To do this, click on "Add Photo(s)" and follow the directions.]

Unfortunately our forum program does not allow you to change your username. You would have to reregister under a different user name (using a different email address).

That is called a signature and it is indeed automatically posted along with your post. To get one, look to the left. At the top of the screen under Main Menu, you will see My Account. Click on My Account and then on Edit Your Information. Here you can change your email and IM information, your avatar, and farther down the page, you can change or add a signature. Once you have made the changes that you wish, click on save your changes. Please note that you can only change your sig in My Account. Any changes (to your signature) made using the Profile link at the top of the forum page are not saved (even if you select for them to be).

To put a picture in your signature: 1. Host the picture online someplace like Photobucket, Webshots, etc. 2. Copy the link to your picture and place it between [img][/img] tags. Signature Guidlines: The image can be no larger than 70 pixels high and 500 pixels wide. Any larger than this and a mod will ask you to resize it -- or remove it. If you are unsure about the size of your image, right click on the image and select Properties. That should give you the exact dimensions. Any photo editing software (or even MSN Paint) can help you resize if necessary.

You can clear your cache under Privacy.) Then try again.

Why is there no option to delete my account?

Only the Site Administrator can delete accounts.

Right now, the only theme available for members is the lav1 theme -- which is black with lavender font. The winning themes from the contest are still "under construction" and have not been implemented as yet. Once they are, you will be able to change your theme by going to your account page (to do so, click on My Account) and then choosing the desired theme from the "Select Theme" drop down menu.

Just submit your photo to the Submissions Gallery, along with your member name, and an album will be created for you.

The Moderator for that particular area said to wait a few hours, then try again. She had received multiple entries on a name, so perhaps that was yours?

Open the image back up in Paint (or another photo editing software program) and save it as a JPG or GIF. (With Paint all you need to do is choose Save As and then select the correct file format from the drop down menu.)

How do I change my password?

Go to My Account under the Main Menu and then choose Edit Your Personal Information. You can change your password from there.

how do i use the forum

Look in the left hand column where you'll find Choose Your Path. Click "Forum". A great way to start is to click the Welcome Room and post a thread introducing yourself. You are sure to discover that we are a friendly group. You can also click the subjects that interest you, join discussions, and view our Images galleries. We also suggest checking out the FAQ, for some basics about the site.

In the left column, click "Encyclopedia". Click "Add Term". Click the drop down and select the term. Fill out all pertinent information in the windows, then click "Submit". A Moderator will check the submission, and if it is suitable, it will be validated to the Encyclopedia.

what order do i need to read all the books in

In the left hand column, click "Forum", click "Discuss the Books", then click "Chronological Order of the Books". That will give you a complete list.
